September 15, 2011 - USDA Hispanic Heritage Month Observance National Hispanic Heritage month is a annual commemoration held on Sep 15 to Oct 15 to honor contributions made by Hispanic Americans to our nation. Each year, this time is set aside to celebrate the history, achievements, culture and contributions of Americans who traced their routes to Spain, Mexico and other Spanish speaking nations of Central America, South America and the Caribbean.
The month long observance begins on the same day in 5 Latin American countries – Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua - celebrate their independence. In addition Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence on Sep 16 and Sep 18 respectively.
