Executive Protective Operations (EPO)
Provides worldwide personal security for the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, and at times of heightened alert for the Deputy Secretary, regardless of geographical location.
Focuses on safeguarding national security information within USDA, managing security clearances, and determining "suitability for employment" for USDA employees in public trust positions.
Advises the Secretary and Deputy Secretary on homeland security, intelligence, and emergency response issues. In addition, HSD coordinates policy across USDA agencies and offices in the areas of Critical Infrastructure Protection of the Food and Ag Sector, Homeland Security, Emergency Preparedness/Response, and Intelligence.
Provides physical security policy and guidance to 29 USDA agencies with 130,000 Federal and Non-Federal Employees in over 24,000 facilities nationwide.
