Manages a comprehensive occupational safety and health program for Departmental Management (DM) employees in the National Capital Region (NCR). Conducts building and work site safety inspections for compliance with applicable standards and regulations. Conducts employee and supervisor training, as mandated by OSHA. Develops guidelines and policies for implementation of required OSHA programs for DA employees, as well as general safety and NFPA Life Safety programs and policies for all NCR building occupants.
Manages the environmental health program for the Headquarters Complex facilities, including monitoring indoor air quality (IAQ). Monitors for the presence of environmental contaminants (e.g., lead and asbestos). Arranges for annual and as-needed IAQ surveys. Facilitates semi-annual sanitation evaluations of all food service operations, including childcare facilities.
Manages the DM radiological safety program. Maintains appropriate permits and inventories of equipment used for the screening of all incoming U. S. Postal Service mail and authorized courier small package and envelop deliveries to the USDA Headquarters Complex. Conducts quarterly exposure monitoring of equipment.
