The Property Management
Division (PMD) provides
overall leadership,
coordination, and
direction for the
management of USDA's
portfolio of personal
and real property,
which includes properties,
vehicles, aircraft,
and real estate. PMD
develops and monitors
Department-wide policies,
procedures, and regulations
governing property
management to ensure
that sound practices
are in place for the
management of USDA's
assets. PMD develops
and deploys property
systems to assist
USDA's agencies in
leveraging their property
assets in support
of their missions.
USDA owns and accounts
for over 277,000 pieces
of personal property
worth a total acquisition
value over $4 billion.
The Personal Property
Branch develops regulations,
standards, and techniques
concerning receipt,
utilization, preservation,
disposal, and replacement
of personal property.
USDA owns approximately
193 million acres
of land, making it
the second largest
civilian landholding
Agency in the Federal
Government. The Real
Property Branch develops
regulations, standards,
and techniques concerning
receipt, utilization,
preservation, disposal,
and replacement of
real property.
The Property Management
Division is dedicated
to providing guidance
and resources to USDA
employees responsible
for personal property,
real property, and
physical security
efforts throughout
USDA's agencies.
