a Training Conference
for Service Disabled
Veteran-Owned
Small Businesses
(SDVOSBs) on Wednesday,
November 19, 2008,
from 8:00 a.m.
- 4:00 p.m. in
the Jefferson
Auditorium. Gilbert
Smith, Deputy
Assistant Secretary,
welcomed the group
and reiterated
the Department's
commitment to
promoting opportunities
for SDVOSBs.
This event provided
approximately
300 SDVOSBs an
opportunity to
meet senior management
and learn about
the Department's
contract and subcontracting
opportunities.
Five interactive
panels were utilized
to facilitate
discussion and
information exchange.
Panelists included:
Procurement Officials,
Chief Information
Officers, SDVOSBs,
and USDA large
Prime Contractors.
Participants indicated
that the information
presented was
outstanding and
that they intended
to incorporate
the advice presented
into their business
plans. Now more
than ever before,
there is a need
to nurture strong
public/private
relationships
with the SDVOSB
community.
